1926 Swift 14/40 Tourer
This 1926 Swift 14/40 Tourer is a rare and lovely vintage car with an extensive history of long-term ownership and use. The car was first registered in April 1926 and had several owners over the decades. It was initially purchased by a Mr. Bailey of Walden, then passed to his son in 1935. The car was later sold to a Mr. Buckmaster, and in 1960, a Mr. Allway became the owner, keeping the car until 2003. During Mr. Allway's ownership, the car was featured in a show called "Mr. Pastry" with Richard Hearne and used to raise money for children with Cerebral Palsy.
Powered by a 1631cc engine and a four-speed gearbox with BTH magneto ignition, the car has had an engine rebuild by the previous owner. The large open bodywork is finished in maroon with black wings and includes good weather equipment, as well as an Auster screen for the rear passengers' comfort.
The previous owner acquired the car in 2012 and enjoyed driving it for a variety of purposes, from trips to the supermarket to holidays in France. The car is offered with a comprehensive history file, including early documents, Swift paperwork, and advertisements, as well as a current V5C registration document.
This rare and well-maintained 1926 Swift 14/40 Tourer presents an excellent opportunity to own a true vintage car for a price comparable to a Morris Minor.
